Decanter Centrifuge Design Considerations

When looking at using a Decanter centrifuge for a separation application there are a couple of key factors to consider during selection. The first consideration is the desired phase to be either the solids or the liquid. If it is the solids, do you need dry dewatered solids or a concentrated/thickened solids. If the desired phase is the liquid and a high level of recovered solids/clean centrate must be achieved this will dictate increased pond depths in the Decanter centrifuge. These key considerations (solids or liquids) will dictate the usage of hardfacing wear protection, conveyor/scroll designs, bowl designs (angle, length & diameter), gearbox, control and backdrive requirements.
